IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun Edition “SFTI”Reviews

October 15, 2020, Schaffhausen-Swiss watchmaker Schaffhausen IWC Pilot’s(Replica IWC Pilot’s) series launched the Top Gun Edition “SFTI”, adding a new work to the TOP GUN watch family. This watch is inspired by the “Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor” model of the same name created by the brand to commemorate the U.S. Naval Air Force in 2018. It is exclusively for graduates of the U.S. Naval Fighter Weapons School (nicknamed TOPGUN). With the combination of a black ceramic case and Ceratanium® porcelain titanium case back and push buttons, this chronograph showcases a sporty style in a sharp, tough, matt black.

The new IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Top Gun Edition “SFTI” is inspired by the acclaimed “Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor” watch. The new watch inherits the tradition of IWC’s TOP GUN naval air combat force series watches. It is made of extraordinarily sturdy and durable materials to resist what pilots must endure in the cockpit of supersonic aircraft (such as F/A-18 Super Hornet) Extremely strong pressure.

The oversized 44mm case is made of black zirconia ceramic. Ceramic is one of the hardest substances on the earth. It has super scratch-resistant properties, and the matt black has a good anti-reflective effect. The case back and the chronograph function buttons are made of Ceratanium® ceramic titanium, an innovative material recently developed by IWC material engineers. This new material is as light and strong as titanium, but at the same time as hard and scratch-resistant as ceramic. Thanks to the combination of ceramics and Ceratanium® porcelain titanium, this chronograph has a uniform black matt color. The black dial and luminous black hands further enhance the tough military style. The small second hand and the end of the chronograph second hand with an airplane-shaped tip add a little red accent to the instrument-style dial.

IWC’s self-made 69380 calibre works stably in a sturdy case. This powerful and reliable chronograph movement adopts the classic column wheel design to ensure the accuracy of time travel and can achieve up to 12 hours of timing.
